What is Orthodontics?

Orthodontic treatment is designed to realign and correct the look of your smile. Regardless of your age, it's never too late to start loving how you look. We customize each patient's treatment plan so that you receive the care specific to your needs. Our goal is to make orthodontics as affordable and easy for you as possible.

Why would Orthodontic treatment be needed?

Having crooked or crowded teeth presents significant challenges, both practical and personal.

Firstly, their misalignment significantly hinders proper oral hygiene. Brushing and flossing become difficult, leaving plaque and debris trapped in hidden nooks and crannies. This puts you at increased risk of tooth decay, gum inflammation (gingivitis), and even more serious gum disease, potentially harming your long-term dental health.

Secondly, self-confidence may be impacted. Feeling self-conscious about your smile can lead to hiding it behind closed lips, affecting social interactions and potentially impacting overall well-being.

While the cosmetic aspect can be a significant concern, remember that the primary problem lies in the functional limitations and increased health risks. Addressing these through orthodontic treatment can not only enhance your smile but also significantly improve your oral health and confidence.

Who is a good candidate for Orthodontics?

We will examine your teeth to determine if and when you'd benefit the most from orthodontic treatment. There is no right age when it comes to having the work done. For parents, it's a good idea to bring children in for their first orthodontic consultation around the time they are seven to nine years old. For adults, it's never too late to start loving how your smile looks.

What happens during Orthodontic treatment?

First and foremost, we will perform an examination, take x-rays and provide you with a consultation. We will discuss orthodontic options available to you so that you can choose what works best for your needs and budget. We will work closely with you when it comes to choosing the system that is right for your smile goals. You can then expect to come in regularly to have adjustments or new aligners made over the course of treatment. Your treatment can take anywhere from just a few months to about two to three years depending on what type of work is needed.
